Peter and the Wolf & Graduation Ball Cancelled

We are sad to announce that we must cancel our “Peter and the Wolf” and “Graduation Ball” Performances. Although we had hoped to re-schedule our Spring Show to June 20, 2020, we were just notified that our Portland Community College venue will remain closed until September. Our hearts are saddened for you, for our artistic directors, and for our dancers who have dedicated so much time and talent to this production.

Peter and the Wolf & Graduation Ball
June 20, 2020

NWDT is excited to present two ballets for this year's Spring program, both of which express three unique themes that showcase the versatility of our company: elegance, humor and charm. The first ballet, "Peter and the Wolf", brings this magical story to life with beautiful costumes and sets, and is choreographed by June Taylor-Dixon. Each character in this tale is represented by a corresponding orchestral instrument. With music composed by Prokofiev, it is a perennial favorite in the repertoire of many dance companies and we are delighted to bring it to you again! Also included in the program, is a revival of David Lichine's crowd-pleasing comic ballet "Graduation Ball". It is choreographed to the lilting melodies of Johann Strauss II, and is staged by June Taylor-Dixon and Kim Schroder. Set in Vienna in the 1840's, it tells the story of young cadets from a local military academy who visit a girls' boarding school for their graduation ball.

Our Spring Show is truly a must see for people of all ages!
