Northwest Dance Theatre is proud to present the Prologue from the timeless classic "The Sleeping Beauty". Written by Charles Perrault and set to the beautiful music of composer Yurich Tchaikovsky, the introductory Prologue scene features exquisite handmade costumes in cotton-candy hues. With original choreography by Marius Petipa, the Prologue has been specially adapted for NWDT by Artistic Director, June Taylor-Dixon. The Prologue scene feature a grand ceremony to celebrate the Christening of Princess Aurora, attended by the Lilac Fairy and six other fairies to bestow gifts to the child. The ceremony is interrupted by the evil fairy, Carabosse. The powerful Lilac Fairy intervenes and alters the curse the evil Carabosse places on the child. In addition to this glimpse into "The Sleeping Beauty" ballet, NWDT will perform several modern and jazz works, featuring choreography by M'Liss Stephenson and Laura Haney.
